Ein Bericht über die Fraternity war auch schon in einer der letzten TBs zu lesen. Ich wollte Euch mitteilen, dass Brian Mooyaart, Captain der Fraternity of St. George, mich offiziell zum "Fraternity shoot coordinator of Germany" ernannt hat. Falls also jemand etwas über kommende Veranstaltungen der Fraternity wissen möchte, kann er sich demnächst bei mir melden und ich versuche dann zu helfen oder ggf. zu vermitteln.

Erst mal herzlichen Glückswunsch.
Hat die Fraternity überhaupt schon mal auf dem "Kontinent" geschossen?
Darf man da nur mit Langbogen schießen?

Es finden regelmäßig shootings in Frankreich statt. Zum nächsten shootin bekomme ich bald genauere Informationen. Dann kann ich Dir auch sagen, ob auch andere Bögen erlaubt sind.

A quick reminder of the first official shoot at the Marks in France for
some 500 years !

Date; 5 and 6 June, hosted by the Fraternity of Saint George.
Location; a Chateau's estate 10 minutes off the motorway to the North of
Paris (4 1/2 hrs drive from Aachen).
By aeroplane, land at Roissy Charles de Gaulle, then only 15 minutes by
taxi to the Chateau at Moussy.

The Marks will be the traditional French mascots not used for Centuries.
A private visit to Europe's finest Archery Museum and dinner is included by
reservation (no later than 20 May, please).
Officers of the French Army Artillery regiments will be present.
Hunting horns will accompany a young cavalier bearing the Oriflamme into
the field.

If you have a longbow then this event will make your spine tingle !

An e-mail giving directions / accommodation / timeline is ready for you.

The tournament will consist of; a shoot at the (roving) Marks; at Speed;
and in the Cloth of Gold (flight).
The Fraternity never cancels and has a cast-iron reputation for organizing
the biggest and most prestigious shoots at the Marks in Europe. You can see

As Fraternity of Saint George raises money for the Armed Services
Charities; you would be making a direct contribution to those that deserve

...da fällt mir doch was ein: Dieses Problem dürften wir in Zukunft vermehrt haben. Falls Taran nicht das dauerhafte offizielle "FC-translate-office" machen möchte (WITZ!):D
Es müsste doch die Möglichkeit geben, einen Online-Übersetzer in die Seite einzubauen, der nach dem Motto funktioniert:
"Wort/Passage markieren-Butten anklicken-Übersetzung erscheint in einem Fenster". Müsste natürlich in beide Richtungen funktionieren (En/De, De/En), und immer direkt verfügbar sein, z.B. ganz oben neben "start/mitglieder/team/suche/hilfe"...

Du weißt ja, was da für ein Schrott rauskommt!
Allerdings habe ich mit dem Text der Fraternity ein paar Probleme, einfach weil ich mit speziellen Gegebenheiten des Langbogenschießen nicht so vertraut bin.
Z.B.

was heißt "mascots" in diesem Zusammenhang?

Aber das klingt schon sehr stilvoll und pompös, zu blöd, dass ich keinen Longbow habe, und ein Flatbow gilt da ja wohl auch schon fast als Ketzerei, oder?
Also helft mir weiter, dann übersetz ich gerne, oder jemand anders erbarmt sich doch...

Die Oriflamme war das Banner der französischen Könige im Mittelalter. Welches, so die Legende, nur in Zeiten höchster gefahr in s Feld getragen wurde

Genau dafür wurde ich ja von der Fraternity angeheuert. Damit Leute aus meinem Land mich in ihrer Sprache Sachen fragen können. Dass Landogar den Rundbrief hier postet war natürlich nicht so toll. Das hätte ich auch gekonnt.
