Long time ago I didn't know that this part of websiet exists. I apologie to all becuase my posting on wrong place. In the future I will posts my bows here. Some of them are old, some are new.
I did not have enough time to post this bow earlier. It was made from old piece of black locust. Sneaky, curved, full of bumps, hills, knots and even one hole. It had ugly kink in the lower limb, something like big hinge. After a lot of work it came ot 60# 30". It started with 3" deflex and took almost no set. It is not heat treated. I am surprised with its early draw weight- it shouldn't have it with such a deflex. Maybe it is result of non-working inner limbs. There was no god angles to make photos because it is also and twisted. Shelf is some old bone found on Belyanica in one of the caves. As you can see it is in Manny style (I am his great fan and I am very glad he is here again ). 68" ntn, 1 3/5 wide, under 1/2 at nocks. One good thing about this bow- it is centershot and do not twist, regardless it twisted limbs. Pig fat finished.

Two notes:
Could you please give us some dates to every bow you present? E.g. wood, drawweight, drawlength, width at handle, etc.
Moreover, you may open a new thread for each bow. In case you want to take part in our monthly votings it's easier for the mods to find your bows.

Elder mother , 50# 30"...
Old legend said that in every elder tree there is good guardian, Elder mother. Having elder wood with you helps Elder mother to keep evil witches and ghosts away from you....
This should be special bow for my dear friend Vesna. I wanted to make some "magical" to her and I deicided it to be elder wood. I haven't work with elder wood before. I was suspicious but this wood is great- hard, strong, easy to work, compression strong, like some old bone under touch. This supposed to be very accurate bow so I choose narrow sapling of elder. It is just 1 x 1" in the handle. It is 66" ntn. Having little twist and character in the outer limbs but not much. I scraped out its spoongy core form one limb and it is still very strong limb- holding on two narrow wooden walls (you will see on pics what I am talking about). After sending it is hypnotical on the touch. Sapling had 1" of deflex in the middle of the stave and took more 3/5 of set, total is 1 3/5, without heat treating. Draw weight is 50# at 30" but it will be pulled little shorter. Nocks are made of juniper heart- one more magical recipe- it is said that juniper heart is reppelent to bears and wolwes. I hope she would like this bow.

This old legend is known in germany as well. And making a bow for a good friend always gives a little piece of your own magic to him/her, so indeed you did something magic *gg*

Elder is the strongest endemic wood when regarded by compression. So it is a very good belly-wood for all kinds of strong backings too. But you are right, the bone-like look and feel of the hard and dense wood is something special on its own.
Nevertheless I'm not a great fan of elder. I tried to work with it and I absolutely didn't like it. I just could not get a "feeling" for it. Maybe mother elder had her hands on it and didn't want it to become a bow...

This bow looks really great. I like the knots worked out so perfectly, the tiller seems flawless too. It's so shiny, whats the finish, you used, tung oil varnish?

Galighenna- I didn't know about it's compression strength. Jaro Petrina said long time ago that medieval Italian bows were sometimes made of elderberry but I couldn't believe. I used linen oil.

And it would be sad, if not both of these very beautiful bows would get their chance in the competition.
