Hi people. I am new one here. If this is not right subforum for introducing - I will remove this post where it belongs.
My name is Zack, I am from south Balkan, bowyer for few years ago.
It is good to see that there is so much people in this part of Europe that are interested in bows and bowmaking.
Soon I will post some off my bows, if it is OK?
Best regards!

Welcome Zack,

we are looking forward to seeing the bows you've made.

But you understand German, right?

Cheers

And how do you navigate here?

I considered the possibility that you can read German because you write in here in the first place and because some people can comprehend a language but are not able to write it. ;)

You see, it was a reasonable assumption.

I personllay would be at loss being in a forum the language spoken therin I could not understand. So, respect!

I found in dictionary langebogen and googled that. Somehow I came in here. :) (Am I some kind a intruder here...?! O0 )
I am member of few bowmaking and archery forums but they are almost all American. I wanted to find something in my neighbourhood. ;)
Here is one of my bows.
Last year I cut some wild plum. When I got home I debarked it and tommorow- it was full of deep cracks, all to the center of the stave. I placed it in my junk wood. Few months ago I saw it again and deicided to try to make something of it, ignoring cracks, checks. It was reflex sapling, little over 2" reflex, not centered with different limbs. Finished bow hold half of inch reflex (I am not brave enough to heat treat it one more time to get more reflex with this shape). It was finished at 53#, after heat treatment it was about 65# so I had to retiler it. Now it is 60# at 28,5 " (about 50 little knots in total, both back and belly). Brace height is 6". It is 65" ntn, 535 grams physical weight. Wide 33mm at hick 22 mm at handle, about half of inch at nocks. Tricky to tiller because its twisting, finaly when done it is centershot.

No, you are welcome! I just gave voice to my thoughts. :D

That's a very impressive bow! The back looks awesome and the tiller is very well.
You seem to very crafty! Bild

Thank you very much, intruder was joke. ;-)
All my bows are charactered, and staves also. I do not like perfect staves for work, they are kind a borring to me. Wild plum is very good bow wood but must be carefully dried to avoid checks.

Yes, I have a stave here from a bush that's related to plum and hope it will turn out a strong bow. I painted it all over because I chopped it in late Fabruary and it was somewaht wet already. When it got warmer outside the stave cracked like hell, so I filled in epoxy and painted it all over with PU lacquer. Now it dries more slowly and doesn't crack any more. ;)

A lot of people reported crysals on plum wood but it seems that Prunus cerasifera is somehow resistant to crysals. I had some tiller corrections on this bow where a lot of other wood could get crysals but this one didn't. Got few more staves, one of them will turn to warbow.

Yes, that's me drawing my yew bow "Diamond". :D

The bowyer of "Diamond" is Blacksmith77K here in the forum.
You can find further photos and information on Diamond here:

Diamond is really good looking bow! Can you believe: just yesterday I have found this website where Diamond was posted!!
I was intending to contact this bowyer for some interchange of opinions about wood.

That is REALLY an amazing coincidence! ;D

He's nearly daily in the forum here - and often also in the chatroom in the later part of the evening.
You will find him to be very helpful. I'm sure he'll be very happy to chat about wood and bowmaking and such things with you.
