"Salt Rock" black locust recurve
"Salt Rock" black locust recurve
During pause in warbow making (I am infected now) I had to finish one already paid bow.
This is bow for a friend of mine. First idea with this stave was to made a warbow. My brother Pathfinder floortillered it and gave it to me to continue. It crysaled badly immediately after. To do not waste a stave I deicided to transform it to recurve bow for a friend. It is 73 ntn. It was little narrow (1 1/2") and I left it so long because of danger of owerdrawing. Finall draw weight is little over 50# at 30". Took no set after tllering and still have 4" of reflex, , not heat treated. Tiller could be better but there were some problematic, almost invisible spots. Had some character and one nice hole.
I still do not understand this early crysaling during warbow phase, never happened before.

Hi Ishi!
Very nice Bow! I can't say anything about the tiller because i got almost no experience in bowmaking, i am only breaking sticks But for me the visual aspect is important as well. Really beautifull, like all your bows i have seen so far.
Keep on going.
Best regards Leo

Very great bow once again. Something different from other bows u presented here but with typically "ISHI-STYLE".
Tiller looks good to me perhaps u mind very little different limbs?.
I love ur puristic craftmanship!

Nice one!
Is there a special reason for the wrappings in the recurved areas?

Re: "Salt Rock" black locust recurve
Captain, yes, there is reason: there are some slightly visible marks of recurve jig.
Moem, my friend, yes. One limb has reflexed spot and the other has few dead knots. When lims are thin like these it could cause some problems, leaving some areas little stiffer. Not a big deal, I just like to discuss about all details. Thank you for positive comments.
Leo, I am doing my best.

Great bow, as usual, I really like the colour of this specific black locust.
You always manage to get the best out of a stave !

Very nice bow, but what means "crysaling". Lasst mich nicht dumm sterben.

Bildung von Stauchrissen
Es ist mir egal ob schon mal jemand sowas gebaut hat.
Ich will ja nicht unken, aber in der überwiegenden Zahl der Fälle geht das schief.
